LYNX Blue Line Extension Testing Begins

The LYNX Blue Line Extension testing began today (Wednesday, 07JUN17) and will continue through Friday for the area along North Tryon Street near Charlotte’s University area.

An extension of the Blue Line to University City and UNCC is under construction, along the existing Norfolk Southern right-of-way at North Davidson and North Tryon Streets. The extension is scheduled to open this coming March.

The low-speed testing allow contractors and Charlotte Area Transit System personnel, to begin assessing the condition and safety features, the connectivity of the overhead electrical system and plenty of clearance on the sides of the of the rail.

CATS representatives confirmed today that construction of the LYNX Blue Line Extension remains on schedule for the March 2018 planned completion. Stay tuned…
