Census: Mecklenburg County’s Population Hits 1 Million
As expected, Mecklenburg County is the first in the state to hit the 1,000,000 population mark! As cited below by the writer for the Observer, the factors that bring relocation clients to our area are on-the-money. In addition, our clients tell us that a healthy job market, lower taxes, outdoor activities (great Parks & Recreation areas) and incredibly affordable housing are some of the factors that captured their attention to the area.
Charlotte area residents are often transferred out of the city and at their first opportunity, return to the area! There is just no place in North Carolina to live that is like the Queen City. From our hip, yet upscale Uptown to our fabulously walkable inner-city areas including Dilworth, Elizabeth and South End to our ‘middle city’ SouthPark, the southeast’s largest live/work community to the vast suburbs with gorgeous gated and golf course communities. Charlotte truly has it ALL!
So why Mecklenburg?
Experts cited a number of factors, including an improving economy, pro sports teams, national conventions, a good climate, proximity to the beach and mountains, and a diverse social mix.
While many regions might have a couple of those qualities, the Charlotte area has all of them, said Bob Coats, the governor’s liaison to the Census Bureau.

And other parts of the state wonder why the professional sports teams selected Charlotte! The factors cited in the article are exactly what our relocation clients tell us – as well as the low tax rates and incredibly affordable housing!
