Just a stone’s throw away from the million-dollar homes of Myers Park, you will find an unlikely community of renovated bungalows in one of the city’s oldest neighborhoods, Cherry. Cherry was named in 1891, and according to local tradition, it was built as a servants’ community for the adjoining streetcar suburb of Myers Park, which began to develop in 1912. The Cherry area is on the move, making major developmental and revitalization changes, primarily due to its location near Uptown, Midtown and Myers Park.
