After a long day of outdoor activity and enjoying our gorgeous Carolina weather today, it’s time to reflect on the positive impact of Daylight Saving Time. Being given longer evenings works extremely well for me both personally AND professionally!
While setting the clocks forward one hour in the spring doesn’t ‘create’ more daylight, it does change the time the sun rises & sets. Personally, I love getting home from showings or listing consultations and having wonderful free time with my husband out on the patio…or this year, at the dock! Tonight was our first evening to have dinner at 6:30 and catch the 7:30 sunset over the water. #LifeIsGood
I tend garden and prefer to weed and gather the bounty just before preparing it for dinner. Standard time does not allow me to do that – it’s dark by the time I get home on most evenings. So, I am elated to grab a few things out of the garden, wash them and prepare them for dinner…then catch the sunset with my hubby!
Professionally, Daylight Saving Time is positively glorious! Standard time does not allow my corporate clients to leave their jobs in Uptown and head south to tour a home before dark. Because so many buyers these days demand wonderful backyard hardscaping, golf course or lake lots, they are unable to actually SEE the exterior during standard time. DST allows them to tour the complete property on their way home from the office and comfortably place an Offer on their next home, having seen it inside AND out.
One thing is for certain – I’m not showing homes at 6 or 7AM any time of the year so, you can understand my exuberance that we are now operating on DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME!! I won’t even go into the safety factor of showing homes at 6PM in the daylight…
Enjoy your spring and summer evenings – I know I am!
